The EMBERS® Menopause-Informed CBT Model is a talking therapy, holistic, non-hormonal approach consisting of six stages aimed at providing psychological support to women facing emotional challenges during the menopausal transition.
The name of the model - EMBERS® - is both, a metaphor for the emotional state some women experience during this transition and an acronym for the six key areas of wellbeing that require attention to help women regain control over their life, body, and mind.
The six areas of EMBERS® include:
E – Essentials
'Essentials' step aims to assist women in restoring balance within their bodies. This step incorporates Cognitive Behavioural Therapy tools, lifestyle adjustments, and various practices such as breathwork, movement, diet, play and rest. Together, these elements work synergistically to re-establish the body's balance, promote restorative sleep, and effectively manage menopausal symptoms.
M – Mind and Mindset
'Mind and Mindset' deals with unhelpful thoughts that can become amplified in menopause, helping women learn strategies to manage unhelpful thought patterns that contribute to anxiety, depression, mood swings, irritability, and anger during menopause.
B – Becoming
'Becoming' facilitates the process of re-evaluating personal life priorities and goals during menopause, with the aim of fostering a new sense of purpose and meaning in this life stage.
E – Emotional Fitness
'Emotional Fitness' aims to increase emotional resilience and to support women to develop strategies to cope with common menopausal feelings like anxiety, irritability, anger, and sadness.
R – Relationships
'Relationships' stage focuses on supporting women to cultivate connection and intimacy while developing "social fitness" with the aim to increasing an overall sense of wellbeing.
S – Shape-up
'Shape-up' step focuses on fostering positive behavioural, cognitive and emotional change, supporting women to identify life areas in need of an upgrade, while teaching strategies for boosting motivation and commitment, to sustain changes effectively.

The Menopause CBT Clinic® was born out of my deeply held belief that all women who enter the peri/menopause stage of life should be prepared and equipped to embrace it with confidence and self-belief in their own strength and wisdom.
My mission is to help women overcome their emotional difficulties caused by the menopause transition, by combining my over 20years experience in mental health with the latest knowledge in the field of menopause, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, neuroscience and behavioural science. My menopause work is infused with learning from my own personal peri/menopausal struggles, melded with my clinical and life experience.
